County proposes Lexington Road maintenance shift
Plans to remove the Lexington Road overpass are prompting Ray County commissioners to seek a change in who maintains a portion of the road near Henrietta.
Commissioners raised the request with Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Area Engineer Ravi Neupane during a recent discussion of ongoing and upcoming transportation projects throughout Ray County.
Commissioner Max Hockemeier explained MoDOT currently maintains Route J and Route CC, along with the portion of Lexington Road connecting the two routes. Farther north, MoDOT maintains Route H, while Ray County is responsible for a section of Lexington Road near Henrietta.
With the county planning to remove the approximately 700-foot Lexington Road overpass, commissioners are asking MoDOT to consider taking over maintenance from the area near the Evergy property south to where Lexington Road meets Route H.
