A closer review of Ray County’s poorer-rated bridges is helping commissioners narrow the two projects to pursue for funding.

Davis recently joined Ray County Road and Bridge Supervisor Clay Clevenger to review several structures as the county prepares to select two projects for the next round of Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Off-System (BRO) Program funding.

The BRO program provides federal funding to help local governments replace or rehabilitate poor-condition bridges on local roads outside the federal-aid highway system. Ray County can submit up to two projects for the next funding round, with applications due Sept. 30.

The county has 13 structures eligible for the program. Commissioners had not selected their two projects when they began reviewing the list last month.

The list includes bridges or structures on West 216th, East 200th, West 160th, West 124th and West 73rd streets, Fire Branch, Mary Lois, Carpenter, Dowdy, Gardner, Buffalo…
