Cases dismissed in Richmond Community Bank of Missouri ATM theft

Two felony cases stemming from the 2024 theft of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) from Richmond Community Bank of Missouri have been dismissed. Montez Sherman of Independence and Terrance D. Alexander of Kansas City were charged in 2024 with two felonies, including stealing and first-degree property damage. The Ray County Prosecutor’s Office dismissed those charges during a recent court hearing. Ray County Prosecutor Camille Johnston explained the dismissal does not necessarily end the possibility of future prosecution. “The decision to dismiss the Montez Sherman and Terrance Alexander cases was based on the present inability to secure the appearance and testimony of an essential witness despite all reasonable efforts made,” said Johnston. “Once the witness is secured, the prosecuting attorney’s office intends to proceed with the prosecution of both defendants.
