Billy goats ruff on aching ogre at library-backed puppet show

RICHMOND – From the poor ogre’s point of view, puppet show guests heard “The Ogre’s Tail,” a retelling of the story of “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” July 31 at Maurice Roberts Park. At the invitation of the Ray County Public Library, Stone Lion Puppet Theatre’s Taylor Gass presented the show. She is a full-time veteran performer with the 25-year-old troupe. “I’ve been with Stone Lion for 16 years,” Gass said. “It’s (about) the joy, the fun, the interactions with kids – kids of all ages.” The troupe is based in Kansas City but knows no bounds, Gass said. “We do travel regionally, nationally and internationally,” she said. “We do schools, we do birthday parties, we do corporate events, we do a lot of community engagement.” Around the metro area, the troupe stages community events, using grants and corporate sponsors to make all the shows free for the public.
