City of Richmond City Council Ward 1, 2 and 3 all have one candidate running unopposed. The candidates – June Paige, Incumbent Rob Brash and Incumbent Barb Hardwick.
Murray Dennis finds himself in new territory in his final season of coaching Richmond prep golf, which began last week with a tournament and a triangular. Dennis, who’ll retire in a few months, has three siblings in the last Richmond program he’ll lead – Kail, Bryer and Brody Farnan.
Last week provided a few measuring sticks for Richmond track coach David Rash and his staff. The week was the season opener for the Spartans, who participated in two meets: the UCM High School Mule Relays, a March 18 indoor-outdoor meet at Warrensburg; and the Richmond Invitational, held March 21.

A 40-year-old Richmond man’s preliminary hearing on a nearly one-year-old case was continued by Ray County Judge Lori Baskins in Ray Circuit Court Division Tuesday. Ray County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Tara Medlin’s requested the continuance on behalf of Justin Robinson, who faces two felony charges of escape or attempted escape from confinement with a deadly weapon and second-degree assault.
A 31-year-old Richmond man facing three felonies was given a continuance after missing his court date last week. Reny Reis’ defense attorney, Mark Goodwin, claimed to have sent Reis’ court letter to an old address.
A Senior Citizen Nursing Home District tax increase of just over 218% will be found on the April 2 ballot. The 11-cent property tax was passed in 1969 and has never increased.
