During Richmond’s 61-46 loss to Bishop LeBlond of St. Joseph Jan. 27 in the Richmond Winter Classic title game, coach Kevin Jermain saw something from his Spartans he hadn’t seen so far this varsity boys basketball season.

Richmond’s opponents in varsity girls basketball will probably see more man-toman defense from the Spartans the rest of this season, based on the way they utilized it during their 43-34 loss to Braymer in the fifth-place game of the Richmond Winter Classic.

Richmond varsity boys basketball coach Kevin Jermain saw his Spartans kick their game into high gear Monday night against Excelsior Springs. Taking control with a 36-17 first half, the Spartans cruised to a 67-45 victory at Richmond Middle School to open the Winter Classic.
