Richmond must wait until next season to get its first district dual victory since 2018 in varsity boys tennis. The Spartans sought that win Monday, when they hosted Boonville at Maurice Roberts Park in the dual, or “team,” portion of the Class 1 District 4 Tournament.
STILL MAKING IT RAIN Nolan Quick plans to continue raining three-point shots in organized basketball. Quick, who’s set to graduate high school Friday from Richmond, has signed to play for the men’s team at State Fair Community College in Sedalia.
Chances are, Richmond junior Isaac Kaylor didn’t complain much about his round of golf on May 1 – or his round on Monday. Playing last week in the Richmond Invitational at Shirkey Golf Course, Kaylor shot a 73 (+2) for 18 holes.
Richmond graduate Keyshaun Elliott will continue his quest to make Chicago’s 53-man roster this weekend. As SI.com and other sources reported, Chicago is staging its rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday at the Halas Hall complex in Lake Forest, Ill.
SPREADING IT AROUND Richmond spread around the victories in the varsity boys portion of the Bruce Finlayson Invitational. The Richmond boys won seven events at the April 24 track and field meet at Carrollton, including two relays.
Richmond will have a winning duals record this spring in varsity boys tennis. The Spartans are 9-7 entering the duals or “team” portion of the Class 1 District 4 Tournament, slated to run May 4-6.
April 25, 2026, will likely be a date that Richmond graduate Keyshaun Elliott and Richmond varsity football coach Nick Persell will remember for years to come. That day in Pittsburgh, Elliott was announced as the 166th overall pick of this year’s NFL draft, held April 2325 in Pittsburgh.
