Richmond has two chances to get a win in April in varsity baseball – if the weather cooperates.

The Spartans are scheduled to play Lathrop at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Southview Park in Richmond and Mid-Buchanan at 4:30 p.m. April 30, also at Southview. Thursday’s Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division road meeting with Carrollton got rained out, as did Richmond’s varsity boys tennis dual  at Carrollton.

Richmond (2-12) has lost 10 straight as May approaches, including two games this week, Missouri State High School Activities Association information states. The Spartans fell 6-4 Monday at Lawson, then got thumped 17-3 Tuesday at Southview by MRVC East foe Lafayette County of Higginsville.

The Spartans got their last victory on March 27, when they routed visiting Lexington 11-1 in MRVC East action. Coincidentally, Richmond’s other win this season came against Lexington. The Spartans edged the Minutemen 7-6 March 23 during a season-opening tournament at Odessa.
