Fictional pitcher and taking pictures share a bond

I had an Ebby Calvin “Nuke” LaLoosh moment a few days ago. For the unfamiliar, Ebby Calvin “Nuke” LaLoosh is a character in the 1988 film “Bull Durham,” written and directed former pro ballplayer Ron Shelton. If memory serves, about eight years ago I listed it in a column as my favorite baseball movie. Ebby Calvin “Nuke” LaLoosh ( Tim Robbins) is a minor-league pitcher for the Durham Bulls and is nicknamed “Nuke” by baseball fanatic Annie Savoy ( Susan Sarandon). Described by pitching coach Larry Hockett ( Robert Wuhl) as a pro prospect with “a million-dollar arm, but a 5-cent head,” his lack of intelligence is exemplified when he throws a strike during a day game. “God, that was beautiful!
