Linda Diane Hughes, 71, of Richmond passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City.

Linda was born Dec. 24, 1952, in Richmond, Va., the daughter of Harlan Lee and Catherine Rose (Milburn) Woods Sr.

She was united in marriage to Stephen “Steve” Edward Hughes of Kansas City on March 7, 1981. He survives

In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by two sons, Jason (Stephanie) Hughes of Richmond and Jesse (Stephanie) Hughes of Grain Valley; and stepdaughter, Aimee Hughes of Kansas City. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Marianna Hughes, Kobe Hughes, Kora Hughes and Kashlyn Hughes; two brothers, Donald (Judy) Sheffer of Richmond, Va., and Harlan “Buzz” (Janice) Woods of Gasburg, Va.; and sister, Peggy (Dick) Jubar of Oneonta, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Melvin Woods.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bridge of Hope. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation and memorial services were scheduled for Thursday, May 9, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 3 p.m., followed by the services at 5. Inurnment will be at a later date by the family.
