Judy Minnick

Judith “Judy” Ann Minnick, 76, of Richmond passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Ray County Hospital and Healthcare in Richmond. Judy was born June 23, 1950, in Excelsior Springs, the daughter of George and Clara Betty (Claypole) Adams. George and Clara later divorced, and Judy was raised by her stepfather, Leonard S. Clevenger.

She was united in marriage to Allen “Dale” Minnick of Richmond on April 17, 1993. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her two sons, Jason (Liz) Minnick and Scott Fletcher; and two daughters, Andrea Ashinhurst and Carisa Minnick (Jeremiah Lee).

She also is survived by her grandchildren: Aerial (Ryan) Mabery, Brittnie (Brandon) Lee, Brooke Ashinhurst (Rylee Bunch), Marcus (Taryn) McFee, Harley (William) Spargo, Blake (Alexia) Minnick, Drake (Katherine) McFee, Trystin Minnick, Tyler Minnick, Preslee Capps, Benton Ashinhurst, Aiden Ashinhurst, Ivy McFee, Gabriel O’Connell, Lottie Fletcher and Maddie Minnick.

In addition, she is survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Sophia, Amir, RJ, SanTierra, Averionna, Ryatt, Anderson, Avani, Raylan and Freya.

Her sister, Georgenia Minnick; brothers-in-law, Steve (Stephanie) Minnick, David Minnick and Mike “Spank” Minnick; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Frank Ashinhurst Jr. and Mark Alan Ashinhurst; daughter, Chanda Reana Johnson; brother, Leonard Clevenger; sister, Joyce Bowles; and two nephews, Mykel Minnick and Earnie Rimmer.

Judy was raised and educated in Richmond. She attended Independence College of Cosmetology and began what would become a 40-year career doing what she loved. She first worked in Kansas City before returning home to Richmond, where she spent many years working alongside her friends at Styles Unlimited. She later fulfilled her dream of owning her own shop, Main Street Salon, which she proudly owned and operated until her retirement.

More than anything, Judy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the heart of her family and the one who kept everyone connected. If you wanted to know what was going on, chances are, Judy already knew. She loved keeping up with family and friends on Facebook and Snapchat, earning the title of the family’s “social media queen.”

Judy loved spending time at the lake with her family, whether she was fishing, boating or simply enjoying the day together. The holidays, especially Christmas, were some of her favorite times of the year.

She loved decorating, made every birthday feel special and was known for making the best birthday cakes. She also had a true gift for flowers and gardening. Her family often said she missed her calling as a florist because she created beautiful floral arrangements for weddings and family gatherings, and to lovingly decorate the graves of those she held dear.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Judy Minnick Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation and funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation to begin at 6 p.m., followed by the services at 7.

Inurnment will be held at a later date. The family invited the public to participate in fellowship and refreshments prior to the visitation and funeral services, starting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at 1410 N. Thornton St., Richmond.
