Ready for some not-so-great and more not-so-great news?
High heat, drop kicks, random observations and points that amuse are all part of the wide, wide world of sports at the community and national levels.
Recently, I’ve received some notso- great news about two former area prep athletes-turned-NFL players.
First, I learned Richmond graduate Keyshaun Elliott was placed on the physically unable to perform list by Chicago, the team that had drafted him this spring. As of Monday, when I revised this column from the version that had appeared in the Richmond News’ sister newspaper, The Excelsior Springs Standard, he was still on it.
According to Windy City Gridiron.com, one of Elliott’s quadricep muscles is bothering him. Another sportsrelated website, claims it’s his back. Regardless, it’s looking less likely I’ll see him get game reps any time soon.
As someone who was privileged to interview Elliott during his high school years (mostly in basketball, and track and field), I still hope to see him play pro football – at least on television. And I’m …
