Laura Green

Laura Diane Green, 55, of Richmond passed away unexpectedly July 27, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones, in Independence. A celebration of life will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 16 at the American Legion and Ray County Veterans Memorial community building, 312 Clark St., Richmond. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

After high school, Laura worked as a waitress, at Price Candy Co. and babysat for many years. She was able to be a stay-at-home mother and homemaker when she had her own family.

Laura loved her family, kids and grandkids more than life itself. She was always ready to go on adventures to the zoo, the pool, Branson, etc. with her kids and grandkids, including weekend trips to Texas Roadhouse with her family. There was no place she would rather be than surrounded by her family.

Aside from her family, Laura loved thrift shopping, getting her hair and nails done, having lunch dates with her kids, and watching cartoons and Disney movies with her grandkids. She was an active grandma who loved supporting her grandkids in all their school activities and extracurricular activities.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Elkins; daughter, Shelby Green Moore; grandson, William Davis; granddaughter, Emberlee Green; brother-in-law, D.D.; and mother- and father-in-law, Sam and Gale Green.

Laura is survived by her son, Dustin (Jessica) Green; and three daughters, Katlyn (Wyatt) Green, Emily (Austin) Green and Bailey (Dylan) Smith. She also is survived by her mother, Shirley Elkins; sisters, Linda Pointer and Joyce (Mike) Stewart; and brothers, Dale, Ronnie and John Elkins.

Also surviving is her husband and lifelong companion, Ed Green.

In addition, she is survived by 14 grandchildren: Adelyn, Aubree, Marcus, Brayden, Addy, Emersyn, Emma, Allister, Paizley, Alex, Tegan, Zaydin, Orion and grandbaby- on-the-way Maizie. A host of nieces, nephews and friends survive as well.
