The Ray County 911 Board received updates on construction of the new 911 dispatch center during a recent meeting.

Progress inside the facility as well as concerns about moisture beneath part of the building was discussed as work continues toward completion.

Board member Perry Vandiver, who visited the construction site before the meeting, said a significant amount of sheetrock had been installed throughout the facility. He noted four cooling units are expected in the equipment room to maintain the appropriate temperature for the technology housed there.

Vandiver explained his primary concern was moisture in one corner of the building. Although there was no standing water, he noted the area remained wet after several dry days and water appeared to be 4 to 5 inches below the surface in a hole cut into the floor.

“It just stays wet,” he said.
