Two vie for clerk seat

Two candidates are seeking election as Ray County Clerk in the Aug. 4 election. The position is currently held by Heather Maulsby, who will be on the ballot for the Ray County Recorder seat.

The candidates are Kurt Croix and Lyndsey Church.

Croix, 33, of Rayville, graduated with honors from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a minor in mathematics. He works as a senior software engineer at a cybersecurity company. His background includes developing an interactive county budget dashboard, managing complex software systems and experience with regulatory compliance and the Missouri Sunshine Law.

Croix said he is seeking the office to improve transparency and public access to county information. His pri- orities include creating searchable county records, expanding online access to public notices and implementing automated meeting transcriptions to make county government more accessible.
