Transparency questions return to commission

Ray County resident Kurt Croix once again used public comments at a recent meeting to seek updates from commissioners on several previously discussed concerns involving Sunshine Law requests and county procedures.

Croix followed up on several issues he raised in recent months, including agenda procedures, Sunshine Law requests, records related to the county’s 2025 cyberattack and previously requested ditch work.

He first asked whether commissioners may return to a previously tabled issue at a later meeting if the topic is not on that day’s agenda.

“You said you were going to look into that,” stated Croix.

Eastern Commissioner Max Hockemeier noted he had researched the issue and determined the process was permissible.

“I did look into that,” said Hockemeier. “It’s within the bounds to do that, although it could be, and probably should be, put on the agenda, but it was within the bounds.”
