Team-bond, hands-on coaching lead RHS senior to Westminster
For the first time during her career as Richmond varsity girls basketball coach, Kaylee Vantrump has two players who’ve signed to play college hoops in one school year.
As the Richmond News reported recently, seniors Emma Hash and Candiace Claypole have each signed letters of intent. Hash has signed with North Central Missouri College, a Trenton-based junior college (see April 17 issue). Claypole has signed with Westminster College, an NCAA Division III school in Fulton.
Claypole’s signing ceremony took place April 7 in the Richmond High School gym. Vantrump gave a short speech before the signing.
“It has been a pleasure to coach her these last four years – just a positive attitude, hard worker,” Vantrump said. “Watching her grow from freshman year to senior, just a huge difference.”
Claypole is “going to do great things,” Vantrump predicted.
In addition to Westminster, Claypole considered Missouri Valley College in Marshall. She chose Westminster to continue her athletic career…
