Dear Editor, I am sharing the ballot information for the upcoming April election: https://raycountymo. com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Ray-MO-040726-Publication.pdf Historically, this election has seen very low turnout. Between spring farming, the end of the school year and tax deadlines, civic duties often take a backseat to daily life. However, this year there are six ballot issues requesting new or renewed taxes. Like many of you, when my household budget is tight, I have to make difficult choices, reflect on past spending and change my habits to save money. I believe our county leaders should do the same. While the issues on the ballot may be valid, we are all feeling the pressure of inflation, energy costs and rising insurance premiums. Our local government cannot continue to view taxpayers as an unlimited resource. At some point, officials must find alternative methods to make ends meet rather than relying on increased taxes and levies that burden the community. If you are a…
