Phil Duwayne Proffitt, 80, of Richmond passed away Nov. 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

His passing follows that of his wife of 56 years, Barbara Louise (Sharp) Proffitt. The family finds comfort in knowing the two are together again.

Phil was born March 13, 1945. He was a devoted father, grandfather and friend, remembered for his generosity, humor and steady presence.

He worked more than 35 years at Ford Motor Co. before retiring.

Phil was an avid outdoorsman. He was happiest while sharing his love of fishing and hunting with family and friends.

He enjoyed camping and regular card nights with friends. Phil was known for cooking the best fried crappie and could not ever seem to get enough chocolate in his daily diet!

He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Dorothy (Stevinson) Proffitt.

Survivors include two sons, Todd (Laura) Proffitt of Fredonia, N.Y., and Greg (Shae) Proffitt of Kansas City; and four grandchildren, Chloe, Blake, Rachel and Ryan.

A celebration of life for both Phil and Barb will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the First Baptist Church in Richmond.
