Allen Dale Hendrix, 80, of Richmond passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City.

Allen was born Feb. 4, 1945, in Ray County, the son of Milo Everett and Ruth Elnora (Cook) Hendrix.

He was first united in marriage to Alma Ruth Scott of Tennessee. They were blessed with three children before later divorcing.

He then married Anita Huffman of Richmond. They later divorced.

Survivors include his two sons, Scott Hendrix of Richmond and Jason (Lisa) Hendrix of Bonner Springs, Kan.; daughter, Kerri Hendrix of Kansas City, Kan.; and three grandsons, Drake (Tasha) Hendrix, Allen Hendrix Jr. and Dylan Hendrix. Other survivors include two great-granddaughters, Zona Hendrix and Letty Hendrix; three stepchildren, Richard Davis, Kerry Collins and Danny Collins; and two sisters, Carolene (Gary) Nolker of Richmond and Marsha Tracy of Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dakota Hendrix; and brother-in-law, Clarence Tracy.

Allen was raised and educated in the area of his birth and graduated with the Richmond High School class of 1963. During high school, Allen enjoyed his time as a member of FFA.

Throughout his life, he was well-known in the community as a talented painter, working for many years as a self-employed painting contractor. His artistic ability extended beyond his profession. Allen enjoyed carving soapstone, crafting wooden canes and creating other unique pieces. He also was an avid collector, with a lifelong interest in knives, guns and coins.

Allen was of the Christian faith and will be remembered as a well-loved father, grandfather and brother.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Allen Hendrix Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation and memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 12, at the Christian Fellowship Ministry Church in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the services at 11. Inurnment will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
