Harold Lyle “Snookie” Cole, 77, of Richmond passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Life Care Center of Carrollton.
Harold was born Oct. 26, 1947, in Mayview, the son of Kenneth Nathaniel and Rebecca (Scott) Cole Sr.
Survivors include his son, Lorenzo Hawkins of Belton; daughter, Angel Gant of Arkansas; granddaughter, Tanessa Turner of Kansas City; brother, William Cole of Warrensburg; and sister, Verda (Robert) Johnson of Blue Springs. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family and friends also survive.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Lillian Turner; grandson, Travis Turner; six brothers, Lloyd Cole, Kenneth Cole Jr., Larry Dean, Albert “A.C.” Cole, James Cole and Leroy Cole; and four sisters, Marilyn Bass, Joan White, Ruth Ann Miller and Mildred J. Allen.
Harold was raised and educated in the area of his birth. He became a certified machinist and spent the majority of his life working in that trade.
In 2016, he moved back to Richmond from Oklahoma to be with and take care of his brother, A.C. Cole, providing care and support until his passing.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Association. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, at St. John’s CME Church in Richmond, with visitation beginning at noon and services to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Prairie Church Cemetery, Higginsville.
