Marjorie Leone Calvert, age 103, passed away of natural causes Feb. 3, 2024, at Garden Cares Homestead Assisted Living in Lakewood, Colo.
She was born in Richmond, where she lived until relocating in 2020 to Colorado. Marjorie was born Aug. 15, 1920, to Edgar Ray Clark and Anna Zuklin Clark.
She graduated in 1942 from Richmond High School and attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.
Marjorie was united in marriage to Harold W. Calvert in June 1942. They were married 65 years until his death in January 2008.
Marjorie and Harold had three children: Kennel W. Calvert (died February 2018) of Lawson; Karen J. Epps of Erie, Colo.; and Kevin E. Calvert of Zimmerman, Minn.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Brandy Sue (died 1971) and Curtis Calvert (via Kennel), Corinne Epps Disterhoft and Jason A. Epps (via Karen Epps), Phillip Calvert, Christopher Calvert, Katie Calvert, Caroline Post, Kenny Calvert and Kevin Calvert Junior (via Kevin). Marjorie also is survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
Marjorie, affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Gran-A,” was a skilled quilter and avid reader. She loved learning and cooked the most amazing comfort food. Family was important to her, and she ensured that no one ever left her house feeling hungry!
She lived her life with gratitude for the many blessings that surrounded her. Marjorie was gifted with the ability to appreciate the good in life and demonstrated compassion and love toward others. She was loved by everyone and made everybody feel like a friend.
Marjorie’s celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10. Inurnment will follow the services in Richmond Memory Gardens.
