Court date set for former sheriff Bush
A former Ray County Sheriff was charged with a misdemeanor after he allegedly interfered with the Jan. 25 arrest of Reny Reis, 31, at Branded Steakhouse in Richmond.
Former sheriff Garry Bush, 67, was charged with interfering with an arrest, a class A misdemeanor, by Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd, who was appointed to serve as special prosecuting attorney.
Bush’s initial appearance in court will be 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 25 in Ray County Circuit Court before Judge Jason Kanoy.
“The charge was filed on March 19, following review of police reports, surveillance video and body camera footage from Richmond police officers,” said Zahnd.
According to Zahnd’s office, Reis broke away and Bush allegedly stepped in front of the officer. Bush allegedly then used his left hand to push the officer back, saying “Don’t do it,” and “Don’t start.”
