Felony charges lead to probation for Richmond man after police pursuit

A Richmond man who led officers on a high-speed chase through residential streets and into oncoming highway traffic has been placed on probation after pleading guilty to two felony charges. Brent Phillip Long, 45, recently pled guilty in Ray County Circuit Court to first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting a lawful stop by fleeing in a manner that created a substantial risk of serious injury or death.

Gray, Pugh complete ’25 HOF class

One of the 2025 Richmond Spartan Athletic Hall of Fame inductees was ahead of his time, according to former Richmond coach Scott Summers. In introducing Darren Gray during the June 7 ceremony in the Richmond High School commons area, Summers described Gray as the school’s first bona fide three-point shooter. Gray, a 1993 graduate, began playing high school boys basketball less than five years after the introduction of the three-point shot in Missouri prep basketball, Summers explained.
