To conclude the day’s activities, O’Dell had the Bearcats run through “the circle drill.” The drill works like this: A player lines up on defense.

Hardin pair charged in $3M elder exploitation

Two Hardin residents have been arrested after allegedly stealing more than $3 million from an elderly couple through a years-long scheme involving forged documents, fraudulent deeds and financial manipulation. Kirsten Hansuld, 34, is facing six felony charges, including two counts of financial exploitation of an elder or disabled person, two counts of filing false documents and two counts of stealing $25,000 or more, teller machine or contents.

Overgrown cemeteries raise concern

Years of neglect have taken their toll on two of Ray County’s oldest cemeteries, and now the woman fighting to preserve them says she’s running out of time, resources and help. Megan Pendleton, who has been managing maintenance and volunteer efforts at Shotwell and Richmond cemeteries since early 2023, spoke before Ray County commissioners at a recent meeting to outline the mounting challenges she faces and request support in keeping the historic cemeteries from further deteriorating.
