RICHMOND – Ray County Commissioner/Richmond City Councilman Dave Powell resigned his council seat Tuesday. Powell said he received legal assurance he could hold both seats, but would have to recuse himself on issues regarding the city and county to avoid conflicts of interest.

RICHMOND – Henrietta area leaders discussed repairing the old Missouri Highway 13 bridge or installing a crossing with the Ray County Commission on July 26. “We’re looking for money, just like everything else is needing the money, and they all want the big money, but what we’re trying to determine is whether or not to take that bridge down,” Presiding Commissioner Bob King said afterward.

RICHMOND – From the poor ogre’s point of view, puppet show guests heard “The Ogre’s Tail,” a retelling of the story of “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” July 31 at Maurice Roberts Park. At the invitation of the Ray County Public Library, Stone Lion Puppet Theatre’s Taylor Gass presented the show.

AMONG THE ACTIVITIES for Hardin’s 150th anniversary celebration is a bounce house, which gets a workout from Jensen Finley, 8. THE FFA BREAKFAST at Hardin-Central High School includes a variety of fruit provided by agriculture instructor Joe Robinson.

HARDIN – Varsity coach Brandee Doyle and her Bulldogs had to get out of the heat when Hardin-Central staged its softball camp last week. Originally, the Bulldogs were slated to convene in the afternoon July 26-29 and stage a 9-11 a.m.

RICHMOND – Jett Shane of the Dolphin Swim Team made Councilman Rob Kinnard and Melanie Hobbs go off the deep end Sunday. Of Southview Pool’s diving board, that is.
