The Hardin-Central School District challenged the Orrick School District to a donation drive challenge. Although Hardin-Central School District Superintendent Trey Cavanah said there were no winners due to the number of items donated, nearly $800 was raised and 800 items were donated, he said.

The town of Richmond lost a local hero, James Daniel “Jim” Rippy, 75, this past week. Rippy was well-known for hanging flags along Main Street for 35 years.

Gogue pours in 40 as Spartans trounce Tigers

Something happened Tuesday at Richmond High School that sparked a probe into the school’s record books. That night, Jack Gogue dropped in 40 points to lead the Richmond varsity boys to a 71-43 victory over Excelsior Springs.

Sunrise students perform with all-state choir

Sunrise Elementary School music teacher Kaelyn Rich has directed not only Sunrise Singers, but All-State Choir as well. Baylee Crispen and Harper Hockemeier, fourth- and fifth-grade students, were both excited to participate in the All-State Children’s Choir.

Disc golf course takes another step toward reality

The idea of a disc golf course for Richmond was visited during the recent Ray County School Board meeting. In a Richmond City Park Board meeting last year, area residents presented the idea and the park board requested the Ray County School Board provide the city with the space to make the idea a reality.
