SOPHIA BALES | Staff RAY COUNTY Jail inmates Montana Meierer (from left), Christopher Graham, Dillion Eddie and Gregory Lee worked outside the Ray County Courthouse to improve the concrete and clean up. The improvements cost $600 from the Capital Improvement Fund, said Ray County Presiding Commissioner Billy Gaines. “It helps the inmates take ownership in doing work and helps the county to cut costs while making our courthouse easier to move around and have an improved appearance,” he said.

Sunday July 2 At 4:04 a.m., Hali Clayton, 24, of Lexington, MO, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, Failed to equip passenger vehicle with 2 sets of front seat safety belts. At 8:21 a.m., David Scott Loyd, 30, of Orrick, MO, was arrested for resisting arrest/ detention/stop by fleeing – creating a substantial risk of serious injury/death to any person, driving while revoked/suspended, failure to register motor vehicle/ trailer annually with director of revenue.

Orrick girls hoopsters see confidence boost

On July 13, Orrick varsity girls basketball coach Jonathan Kinder and assistant coach Chase Sims noticed a change in their Bearcats. In scrimmaging against Hardin-Central that day during a combined practice in the Orrick High School gym, the Bearcats were more confident than they had been during a June combined practice hosted by Hardin-Central, Kinder and Sims agreed.
