RICHMOND – The Spartans were stingy defensively during their latest homestand. In sweeping four varsity baseball games at Southview Park, the Spartans allowed only five runs.
KINGSVILLE – Orrick’s first win this varsity softball season was one for the record books. With their 37-23 April 21 road win over Kingsville, the Bearcats claimed the fifth spot on the state’s all-time list for most runs scored by one team in a game.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Richmond senior Adrian Church has a simple strategy for running in cold, rainy weather like he experienced April 23 during the Mineral Water Classic at Tiger Stadium. “I normally just suck it up and just run,” Church said.
RICHMOND – Timmy Hamilton is trading Spartan red for Cardinal red. The Richmond senior has committed to playing men’s golf at William Jewell College, an NCAA Division II program, in Liberty.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Blake Buchanan wasted no time in winning the boys javelin April 23 in the Mineral Water Classic at Tiger Stadium. The Orrick junior won it by throwing 48.9 meters, or 160 feet, 5.25 inches.
CARROLLTON – Richmond senior Timmy Hamilton led the Spartans to victory in varsity boys golf Tuesday. Hamilton, who has signed to play men’s golf at William Jewell College in Liberty, shot a 41 (+5) for his nine-hole, par-36 round to help Richmond take first in a triangular with Carrollton and Knob Noster at Carrollton Country Club.
RICHMOND – Aiden Bowman found a way to put a few rough holes behind him Monday during Richmond’s triangular with Knob Noster and Orrick at Shirkey Golf Course. By doing so, the Richmond junior shot his best nine-hole round of varsity boys golf this season, a 42 (+6).
RICHMOND – Orrick senior Dylan Comstock found himself on a familiar golf course Monday, competing against a familiar opponent. Comstock, along with teammates Bishop Grimm and Wesley Creason, played in a 9-hole boys competition, hosted by Richmond at Shirkey Golf Course.
