For decades, a group of U.S. Army veterans have gathered each year to remember their fallen comrade, Forest Dickey. Now, their efforts have culminated in a permanent memorial -- the SP4 Forest P. Dickey Memorial Highway. Dickey was drafted into the Army. He began his tour Sept. 15, 1966, and held the rank of Specialist Four at his death.

A judge serving in Ray and Carroll counties has been recommended for a six-month suspension without pay due to allegations of misconduct. Eighth Judicial Associate Circuit Court Judge Joe Don McGaugh recently received a formal notice from the Commission on Retirement, Removal and Discipline regarding allegations of misconduct.

Hardin-Central School District is proposing a $0.75 property tax levy increase to be added to the April 2025 ballot. Residents will vote on whether to approve this increase, which will determine the revenue the schools receive for operations, staffing and programs.

A new school district superintendent has been named by Orrick Board of Education, to be effective July 1, 2025. Rosendale resident Chris Russo will replace Scott Guilkey, who began his tenure at Orrick School District in July 2022.
