Richmond’s varsity boys tennis squad is starting its season on the road, for the most part. After opening March 24 with a 9-0 loss to visiting Summit Christian Academy, the netters have four away competitions scheduled this week, starting with an 8-1 rout of Knob Noster in Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division action.

Earlier this year, Tommy Burton experienced the thrill of coaching his first 1,000-point scorer as the head of Hardin-Central’s varsity girls basketball program. Later this year, Burton might get to experience the thrill of seeing that 1,000-point scorer, Ester Kincaid, play in her first college game.

State-qualifying wrestler Ryan Sharp is already thinking about next season. As the Richmond News recently reported, Sharp placed fourth in the 144-pound division at this year’s Class 2 state boys high school tournament.
