FFA, 4-H standouts win Harold Strobel Award

Three Ray County teens were honored with a unique distinction which blends leadership, character and service, earning them the Harold Strobel “Citizen of Service” Award. Carsey Calvert, Will Robinson and Cash Honeycutt were named recipients of the award, which comes with a $250 prize and recognizes local youth for exceptional involvement in 4-H or Future Farmers of America (FFA) and dedication to their communities.

Garden-grown potatoes anchor cooking event

Potatoes fresh from the garden took the spotlight at a community cooking demonstration hosted by Special Needs Services (SNS) at the Ray County Library in Richmond. Held as part of the Community Connections series, the event provided participants with an opportunity to learn simple, healthy recipes using vegetables grown in the organization’s community garden located on Southpoint Drive.
