Missouri’s path to protect pollinators

The Highway 13 Butterfly Coalition is working to make Missouri a fueling station for pollinators as they migrate between Canada and Mexico. The coalition began as the dream of a small group of dedicated people working to improve pollinator habitat and promote ecotourism along Missouri Highway, says University of Missouri and Lincoln University Extension urban entomologist Emily Althoff.

In a recent story about the Ray County Board of Services for the Developmentally Disabled’s plans to construct a new facility, Director of DD Services discussed staffing levels connected to the board’s day program. Myers had noted that the organization employs about 30 staff members who “work a day program.” She later clarified that the 30 staff members represent the agency’s total workforce across all of its programs, not just the day program.
