Netters honor Owens, Baker on Senior Night

Richmond held its Senior Night for varsity boys tennis eight days earlier than one might’ve expected. Generally, Senior Night or Senior Day is scheduled for a team’s final home game or match. Richmond’s home finale is scheduled for April 23, when the Spartans face Lafayette County of Higginsville. The Spartans, however, held their ceremony after their 9-0 dual loss to Excelsior Springs Monday at Maurice Roberts Park. “We had some parents that were going to be out of town for (our original) Senior Night, and so, we wanted to do it when they could be here,” coach Brett Terry explained. The Spartans recognized two seniors – Marqus Owens and Gabe Baker. Both joined the program last season.
