RICHMOND – The boys Class 3 District 14 Tournament Player of the Year is a Spartan.

Richmond senior Dionte Marquez, whose last-minute three-point bucket helped give the Spartans their first district boys basketball title since 1972, received the honor, varsity coach Kevin Jermain stated Tuesday via email. Marquez stood out as one of two Spartans to make the all-district boys team. Sophomore Keyshaun Elliott was the other.

Junior Ava Murphy represented Richmond on the girls all-district team.

In other postseason honors, Marquez, Elliott, freshman Jack Gogue and senior Kain Pierson received allconference honors. Marquez and Elliott were named to the first team in the Missouri River Valley Conference East Division, with Gogue named to the second team and Pierson receiving honorable mention.

Murphy received first-team all-conference honors and sophomore Emmalea Kilpatrick was a secondteam selection, girls coach Chad Snyder announced March 12 via email. Murphy and Kilpatrick also were KMZU Dream Team selections, as were Marquez and Elliott.
