Freece expects ‘weird’ atmosphere at XC competition
HARDIN – Mason Freece expects the 2020 Class 1 state cross country meet to have a “different” vibe than last year’s did.
Last year, when Freece represented Hardin-Central at state as a sophomore, the Missouri State High School Activities Association held the boys and girls races/meets for its four classes the same day, Nov. 9. This year, MSHSAA has staggered the competitions and added a fifth class.
The Class 3 girls and boys competitions, featuring Richmond senior Jude Rumbaugh in the boys race, were slated for Thursday afternoon. The Class 4 competitions, featuring Excelsior Springs junior Tyler Rumore in the boys race, are scheduled for Friday morning, followed by the Class 2 competitions.
Saturday will open with the Class 5 competitions, followed by Class 1. Freece’s race time is 4 p.m.
