Richmond varsity boys basketball coach Kevin Jermain saw his Spartans be intense and display their muscle Feb. 9, when they cruised to a 75-53 mat/ courtwarming victory over visiting Lexington. Those traits the Spartans displayed during the Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division meeting were qualities they had lacked during their 73-57 Jan. 19 road loss to Lexington, according to Jermain. Richmond guard Nolan Quick agreed. “We just completely flipped the switch,” said Quick, a sophomore. Lexington “hit us in the mouth” to start the January game, Quick recalled. “We did the exact same thing to them this time,” he said. Senior post player Hunter Mitchell, who also was named this year’s mat/courtwarming king, attributed the Spartans’ physicality to applying what they knew about the Minutemen. “We knew we had the size advantage and we knew we could get in the paint and score a lot of points,” Mitchell said. “And that’s what we kind of did.” Dryden Hendrix, a first…
