RICHMOND – Taya Weber did not have a typical letter of intent signing ceremony. Usually, when a high school senior signs to play a sport at a junior college or four-year college, people gather at the high school. The event often includes speeches, sometimes a reception. Such was the original arrangement for Weber, who was scheduled for an April 16 ceremony at Richmond High School to sign her letter of intent to play golf at Fort Scott (Kansas) Community College, she stated via an April 17 video conference interview. “My coach from Fort Scott Community College and my (high school) team and … my future team were all going to be there – and all my classmates,” Weber said. The closing of all Missouri schools because of the coronavirus pandemic changed those plans.
