Did everyone set their clocks back an hour? I know I did, and I’ve been waking up early the last several mornings – woo hoo! As the nights start earlier and by 5 p.m. the sun is down, some people are affected differently by the darker evenings. A seasonal depression, winter blues, or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) may kick in for some, causing a “down” feeling when the days get shorter in the fall and winter and beginning to feel better in the spring, with the longer daylight hours. In some cases, these mood changes are more serious and can affect how a person feels, thinks, and handles daily activities, according to www.nimh.nih.gov. I do not think that the winter blues get to me, though I do tend to feel a tad bit more sleepy and cozy.
