Responsible Ray Countians would address the question with the obvious answer. They would fix the roof. No choice, really. They know that, if they do not fix the roof immediately, then there will be hell to pay later. Rain coming through a hole in the roof can result in terrible consequences. Waterlogged and sagging room ceilings would begin to crack open and would collapse eventually onto whatever waits below. Water may drip dangerously into and through ceiling light sockets. Wet carpets, even the Persian one handed down from great-grandmother, would become moldy, smelly trash. And items within the house could be ruined, including the computer storing IRS tax documents, irreplacable family photos hanging on walls and the television with attached sound system. Recognizing what could result if a leaky roof is ignored, Ray Countains would either call a roofer or make repairs themselves. They would not like doing so.
