Something I wasn’t prepared for in this field of work would perhaps be the small-town “limelight.” Although every single resident may not read the paper, I’m proud to say most county residents do. The eyes that glance over every word being written and printed – then perceived with preconceived notions about the articles and pictures inside the paper – is an interesting concept. Now, the limelight I speak of is very minimal but arguably more than your average pedestrian. Some can read a story in the newspaper and think nothing of it, while others may have strong opinions about it. What are my thoughts about the articles in the paper? My thoughts are something like this: • Wow, I’m so happy I had enough to fill this space. • I’m glad I made it to that event because I captured some great photos. • This made me feel like a reporter! • I hope this reads decently. • What will my editor say about this?
