Program offers fresh insight into newspapers

A recent visit to Richmond News by a University of Missouri (MU) graduate student, I’ve acquired new skills, knowledge and a fresh understanding of the importance of a small town newspaper. Caroline McCone’s opportunity to spend time with our staff came from the Potter Digital Ambassadors program by MU and the Missouri Press Association . The program was underwritten by MU alum and community publisher Walt Potter Jr., whose interest is strengthening the position of community newspapers, according to mopress.com. The program sends students to help local newspapers strive in areas they may be lacking. McCone taught us numerous things during her visit, such as new camera skills. Her visit was like a breath of fresh air filled with insight and we are so thankful she chose to spend her time with us.
