Opportunities for children to learn, grow are everywhere

I am always looking for things for my fiveyear- old granddaughter to be involved with, whether it’s sports, organizations or helping me in the garden. Little minds are so curious, and as Benjamin Franklin once said, “Idle hands are the devil’s playthings.” This past week, I had the privilege of covering many events at the Ray County Fair. I saw kids of all ages participating by showing everything from cats to cows. I was blown away by the time, hard work and dedication put into these projects. The parents in attendance were amazing as well. They made sure their children had everything they needed, cheered them on and answered my endless questions. I first witnessed young adults from three different FFA groups come together at the Super Farmer event, cleaning and preparing the pole barn for the fair.
