Everyone has had heard the daunting “back in my day” speech that every grandparent has told from generation to generation, letting us know that things were done differently before our time. In all reality, each parent and grandparent who have mouthed those words are only telling the truth. Those who walked this earth before us were more robust than we are today. Yes, it may have been harder for them in most aspects of their life, but honestly, remember they didn’t have a phone in their pocket telling them how to navigate across the country or a grocery store right down the road. Older generations had to work harder, travel further and retain more knowledge than most do today. Even when talking to those younger than me, I catch myself scratching my head because they don’t know interstates in even numbers go east and west, and those in odd numbers travel north and south.
