Body

William Tennis “Bill” Seward, Sr., went to meet his Heavenly Father after complications from pneumonia at the North Kansas City Hospice House on October 20, 2022. He was devoted to his faith, his four children, Altha (Sherman) Wright, Bonita (Craig) Miller, William Tennis Jr. (Tennie), and Crystal (Tim) Coats. He was a loving husband to Bonnie (Bost) of 65 years, who preceded him in death in the year 2019. Bill was born to Mary (Vogt) and Carl Seward on November 23, 1931, in Lakeview, MO. He grew up in Camden, MO, with his five sisters, Marie Vansickle, Marles Ann Lockhart, Jeannie Adams, Arlene Williams, and Marian Berning. Marie and Marles Ann preceded him in death. In 1952, he began his career with the Ford Motor Company.  Later that year, he was drafted into the Korean War.  After completing his heavy equipment operations training, he was deployed to Korea.  He was a member of the 65th Engineering Group and the 25th Infantry Division. In 1954, he was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to continue his legacy with the Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, MO. He retired from Ford in 1983. He lived out his retirement on his farm doing the things he enjoyed. He was a member of the local American Legion and VFW Post #4398, where he served as commander, chaplain, and on the honor guard.  As commander, in one year (1997), he recruited 58 new members. His happiest times were taking his seven grandkids, Corey, Adrianne, Ashley, Mallory, Lacey, Jared, and Meredith on his tractors and for a ride in the dump truck.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoyed spending time on the farm. He also enjoyed attending area auctions and having morning coffee with his buddies. He lived a full life and never met a stranger or an opportunity to tell others about Jesus Christ his personal Savior.  He was very active in his church and local community service. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Ray County Veterans or the Richmond Assembly of God Church.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Richmond Assembly of God Church.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.  Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.  Military Honors provided by the United States Army and Ray County Veterans.  Please remember to share your memories of Bill with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
