Wilbur Harold “Hank” Hendrix, of Springfield, MO, departed this life peacefully at home on October 31, 2021. Hank was born to Wilbur and Francis Hendrix on October 4, 1921, at his Grandfather’s farm house in Ray County, Missouri.  He grew up in Ray County, attending mostly one room school houses, and graduated from Stet High School.  Hank served in the Army Air Corps in WWII from 1943-1945 as a crew chief on B-17 bomber airplanes in England, and from 1952-1954 in France during the Korean War.  In 1947 he married Marjorie Wall.  They had two sons, Dana Hendrix and Brent Hendrix.  Marjorie died from cancer in 1969.  In 1971 Hank married Nadine Showalter, and they remained married until her death in 2020.

Hank was a WWII hero, a 36 year veteran of the Missouri Air National Guard, a lovely singer/guitarist, an amazing story teller, and a cherished grandfather, parent, husband, and friend.  He was one of the most good-natured, laid back, and kind individuals to walk the earth, and was a hero among mortals.  After retirement he enjoyed trout and crappie fishing, playing guitar and singing in front of audiences and at dances with his good friends, and watching his Kansas City Chiefs.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Marjorie Hendrix; wife Nadine Hendrix; and step-daughter, Vicki Carlisle.  He is survived by sons Dana Hendrix of Sanger, TX and Brent Hendrix (Jana) of Springfield, MO; stepson Douglas Fletchall (Leslie) of St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren Mark Hendrix (Ashlee) of Maryville, MO; Lucas Hendrix (Dr. Rachel Greatwood) of Phoenix, AZ;  Lindsay Hendrix of Denton, TX; and Tim Hendrix of Cornith, TX; step-grandchildren Stephanie Tucker (Chris) of Clinton, KY; Monica Thomas (David) of Oak Ridge, MO; Cynthia Brown (Mark) of  Coin, IA; Carl Modlin of St. Joseph, MO; three great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday, November 7, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Springfield, MO, with Father Karl Barmann officiating.  Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 at the church.  Graveside burial will be Monday, November 8, at 1:30 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, MO.  Funeral arrangements are under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 East Walnut, Springfield, MO.
