Virginia was born on Feb. 11, 1941, on the family farm near Hardin, the daughter of Welmon Otto and Elizabeth Annabel (Frazer) Letzig.

She was united in marriage to Donald F. Miller of Norborne on Sept. 11, 1960. He preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 2014.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki (Danny) Johnson of Hardin; two grandchildren, Mindi (Aaron) Crook and Travis (Jessica) Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Abram Crook, Makson Crook, Kyndal Johnson and Owen Johnson; one brother, Frazer (Patricia) Letzig of Richmond; and one sister, Barbara (Mike) Nolker of Richmond.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Jeffrey Don Miller.

Virginia was reared and educated in the area of her birth and graduated in 1959 from Hardin High School. After high school, she attended House of Heavilin Beauty College in Kansas City.

Virginia was a farm spouse, raising her family and helping her husband on the farm. She was a bus driver for the Norborne School District for many years. She also worked for Main Street Floral and then Linda’s Floral in Richmond.

In 1980, the couple moved from Norborne to their current residence.

Virginia was a member of the Hardin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, going out to eat with her friends, shopping, traveling and spending time with her grandkids. She liked cats – some of the time – and was known as the family’s sharpshooter.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Hardin FFA or the Hardin United Methodist Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
