Sheryl Hartnett

Sheryl Ann Hartnett, age 72, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family. She was known by most of her family as “Sherylbabe” and “Grammy.” She was born July 10, 1952, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Grady and Padua “Betty” E. (Bova) Hedge, and grew up in Florissant.

She is survived by her husband, David K. Hartnett Sr; and three daughters, Dixie “Deej” (Michael) Trupiano of St. Peters, Jessica “Jay” (Charles) Myers of Edwardsville, Ill., and Summer (Eric) Snow of Edwardsville. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Kameron (Judy) Gausling, Annabelle Watkins and Harrison Watkins; one brother, Anthony “Tony” (Lori) Hedge of Glen Carbon, Ill.; and her best friend, Brenda Ray.

Sheryl served her country in the U.S. Army, had many hobbies and was fiercely loyal to her friends and family. Her grandkids were her life. Sheryl was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Keith Hartnett Jr.; and sister, Deborah Albatt.

A celebration of life visitation will be held 1-4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, Ill.

Sheryl loved her plants but wasn’t a fan of cut flowers. In lieu of arrangements, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com. The family would love to hear your memories and stories of Sheryl.
