Robert L. “Bob” Haug, 84, of Kearney, formerly of Richmond, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City.

Bob was born May 21, 1939, in Junction City, Kan., the son of Charles and Hazel (Johnson) Haug.

He was first united in marriage to Charlotte Sagar of Seattle in March 1963. She preceded him in death in Robert Haug

July 1990.

He later married Carol Lane Moberly of Excelsior Springs on April 15, 1995. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include his daughter, Tracy (Jim) Sisson of Richmond; two stepsons, Donnie (Liz) Moberly of Pleasant Hill and Dan Moberly of Shawnee, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Joshua Sisson, Danny Sisson, Grant (Alana) Moberly, Cole Moberly, Claire Moberly, Kirsten Poole, Elijah Moberly and Corey Moberly; five greatgrandchildren, Otto Roberts, Luke Sisson, Layla Sisson, Blake Sisson and Charlee Mae Sisson; sister, Viola Bush of Goodyear, Ariz.; special nieces, Gerri (Keith) Rossi, Tracy (Mike) Whitehurst and Dana (Steve) Morelock; and his furry four-legged friend, Higgins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; daughter, Sally K. Haug; brother, Francis Haug; and sister, Sally June Vanderford.

Bob was reared and educated in Richmond and graduated in 1957 from Richmond High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country from 1958 to 1980, attaining the rank of master chief E9.

He returned to the Richmond area, where he worked for Jerrold Communications in North Kansas City for many years. Bob then became a well-loved school bus driver for the Richmond R-XVI School District for more than 10 years. He also was a driver for Direct Transit for 10 years before retiring in 2015.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Ray County or the Richmond United Christian Presbyterian Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Richmond United Christian Presbyterian Church, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and services to follow at 11. Inurnment will be held at a later date by the family.
