Norma Carolene Loyd, 91, of Richmond, died Sunday, April 5, 2020, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Norma was born on April 22, 1928, in Joplin, the daughter of Joseph Roosevelt and Mary Elizabeth (Skiles) Cook. She was united in marriage to Emil Eugene Loyd of Richmond on Dec. 6, 1946; he preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 2015.

Norma leaves behind her sister, Ruth Hendrix of Richmond; three nieces: Carolene (Gary) Nolker of Richmond, Marsha (Clarence) Tracy of Liberty, and Mary (Tim) Turner of Cocoa Beach, Florida; nephews, Allen Hendrix of Richmond and John (Christy) Sanders of Kansas City; and many great-nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband;

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Charles Lester Loyd, in infancy; brother, Joseph Cook; sister, Virginia Forson; and infant sister, Betty Mae Cook.

Norma was a housewife and homemaker and lived in the Knoxville and Richmond areas most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond. She and her husband enjoyed going to Branson to watch the shows; they especially loved the country music shows. They deeply cared for their nieces and nephews as if they were their own children.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, in Richmond Memory Gardens.
